Biography

Beth enjoyed her first job as a library page in a library system with three branches like ours. She loved that job and her peers there with whom she shares an annual reunion.

Beth K. Whittenbury, Esq., started her law career with what was then San Francisco's largest law firm, litigating employment cases and advising employers. She left to found her own practice dedicated to resolving employment issues without litigation. Currently, she teaches at California State University, Dominguez Hills.

Her book, Investigating the Workplace Harassment Claim, made the American Bar Association's Best-Seller List. She is also the author of several other books, including a children's picture book, as well as numerous articles for law reviews and practitioner publications.

As a 25-year PV resident, Beth has tirelessly served our community in almost every PTA position, on the PV Chamber of Commerce Board and Executive Board, and on the Toberman Neighborhood Center Board of Directors. She also co-founded a non-profit to give value-added experiences to young people by raising awareness of the world's most endangered marine mammal, the Mexican vaquita porpoise.

Ms. Whittenbury is a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. She has chaired the Section of Civil Rights and Social Justice of the American Bar Association and the Employment Law and Litigation Committee for the ABA's Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section. She also currently serves as Chair of the California Lawyers Association Delegation to the ABA House of Delegates and as a Commissioner on the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession. She is an active member of the California Bar Association.
